Mooresville vying for $70 million expansion

A Mooresville manufacturing plant is in the running for a $70 million addition as its product — nonwoven textiles — becomes more important to the Charlotte-area economy.

Polymer Group Inc. is considering its local plant along with one in Waynesboro, Va., as sites for 150,000-square-foot addition and an expensive, new nonwovens machine.

Such plants aren’t huge employers. The $70 million addition would bring about 20 jobs, sources say.

Cliff Bridges, spokesman for Charlotte-based PGI, expects a decision from the company’s board of directors as soon as this week.  Source charlotte.bizjournals.com
