Japan`s Nonwovens production down 1.9% in March

METI reported that the nation’s production of nonwoven fabrics in March 2011 decreased by 1.9% compared to the same month of last year to 25,816 tons.

By variety, production increased for spunlaced (up 7.4% to 2,715 tons) and spunbonded/meltblown (up 11.2% to 7,598 tons), while it decreased for chemical bonded (down 21.8% to 1,452 tons), thermally bonded (down 6.3% to 2,920 tons), needle-punched (down 8.5% to 5,791 tons) and wet-laid nonwovens (down 9.1% to 3,298 tons).
