Japan – Nonwovens production down 2.1% in H1 2011

METI reported that Japanese nonwoven fabric production during January-June 2011 decreased by 2.1% year-on-year to 153,430 tons.

First-half 2011 production increased for thermal bonded (up 2% to 17,958 tons), spunlaced (up 3.1% to 17,042 tons) and spunbonded/meltblown (up 4.3% to 44,245 tons, and decreased for chemical bonded (down 9% to 9,359 tons), needle-punched (down 9.5% to 33,956 tons) and wet-laid (down 9.8% to 18,291 tons).
