The US $35 billion – Kumar Mangalam Birla-led, Aditya Birla Group will set up a fully integrated VSF plant, a captive power generation plant, CS2 plant and a sulphuric acid plant in Turkey’s Adana Organised Industrial Zone.

Mr Birla said, “We have a 21 percent share in the global VSF markets and for us VSF is a core business. We look forward to significantly increasing our global VSF capacities. The setting up of this plant is a step in that direction”.

The global director of Aditya Birla VSF business – Mr KK Maheshwari said, “Our current VSF capacity is 750,000 metric tons per year and we aspire to take it to 1.1 million tons per annum by 2015”.

He added, “The Turkey plant will primarily service the domestic markets, since I believe Turkey is the fourth largest consumer of VSF in the world and is expected to be the second largest in the next five years. Currently 100 percent of VSF consumption is imported”.
