Tenowo Lincolnton Inc. plans to add 26 jobs and spend $7.2 million to expand the nonwoven textile production at the Lincoln County plant.

In exchange, the company, formerly known as HOF Textiles Inc., will get a $50,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

The average annual wage for the new jobs is $32,538, plus benefits. That compares to an average salary of $31,252 a year in Lincoln County. The plant currently employs 67.

“The expansion will allow Tenowo to double the capacity for high engineered nonwoven products for the North American automotive industry,” says Lothar Hackler, president of Tenowo Inc.

State Rep. Jason Saine of Lincolnton says the Tenowo expansion “further strengthens our reputation” as a leader in nonwovens.

It’s the second expansion at the facility in recent years. In 2010, the company spent about $2.3 million for new equipment there.

Tenowo is a subsidiary of Hoftex Group AG of Germany.
